Mac OS X: Installing Yahoo Mail

some smtp server do not work with all internet providers,
i've got the same problem with my provider chello in vienna,
all you've to do ist to replace the yahoo smtp with the sentport of your internet-provider,
i use the chello address for outgoing mail, if you're using aol then use the aol server instead of the yahoo...

should work

I have been using my Yahoo mail for 5 years on PC 's with no problem. I can actually now (right now) get & send mail via Yahoo with my laptop which is next to my Mac.

Getting worse. I have been receiving my Yahoo mail on my new iMac for a week but as of 10 minutes ago I get the error message by receiving mail:

The POP server “pop.mail.yahoo.de” rejected the password for user “SteveHurley10”

This is the same password I just used to check my mail via the Yahoo.de website. So the password is correct!

i suppose, that using the yahoo-email-server is not free anymore,
if you want to use yahoo with your email-utility, then you've to pay for it,
check the yahoo-site,
i was using yahoo as well and was facing the same situation...

Here in Germany it is still free. As mentioned. On my PC the mail works fine.

The 'receive mail' worked for a week but now that is gone, too. As I say, if I use my PC with Opera Mail I can send & receive to/from my Yahoo mail without a problem.
On the Mac: I an asked for my p/w for sending/receiving mail. Nothing. Then the Yahoo account goes 'Offline'.

(Could show the screen-shots but don't see the 'add attachments' button).

Kann ich nicht ganz nachvollziehen.
Die Information die ich der YahooSeite entnehme ist dass der Pop-Zugang nur gegen Gebühr möglich ist.
Yahoo Mail Plus für 19.99 im Jahr, nennt sich das. Verstehe ich da was falsch?
Pop-Zugang auf einen Yahoo-Account habe ich schon seit sehr langer Zeit nicht mehr...

How do I get Mail Preferences to save the passwords for my mail accounts? I  have tried Mail>Preferences>(password)>Save 500 times. Each time I close the box after 'saving changes' the password is gone again. I REALLY REALLY did not buy a Mac to have the same frustrations I had with Windows. Yes, my old Windows laptop does access my Yahoo.de mail account problem-free. 

Gleiches/Ähnliches Problem seit gestern 27.03.2007
Online kann ich meine Mails sehen, aber per Outlook ist weder Empfang noch senden möglich, obwohl das seit Jahren ohne Probleme funktionierte. Das Kennwort wird zurückgewiesen. Alle Einstellungen überprüft und nochmal bei yahoo nachgelesen. Bisher keine Besserung!

You need to click OPTIONS on the right top of your yahoo mail window, then click the option for pop3 access. Damned complicated....... probably by purpose........
