Ich benutze SuSE 9.1, sämtliche Spracheinstellungen und Tastaturbelegungen stehen auf "Deutsch" oder vergleichbarem.
Das Problem: In allen KDE-Anwendungen (also Konqueror, Konsolen, Kile, Kate, ...) werden bei Eingabe eines Umlautes zwei Steuerzeichen (nicht darstellbar) angezeigt. Fremdprodukte wie Firefox oder xmule funktionieren tadellos, und wenn ich von dort Umlaute über die Zwischenablage einfüge, werden sie auch angezeigt.
Nach einiger Sucherei hier im Forum und per Google habe ich bereits unter Yast, im Kontrollzentrum sowie meiner sysconfig sowie XF86Config-4 nachgesehen und jeweils ohne Erfolg ein wenig herumgespielt (UTF-8 an- und ausschalten etc.). Im Moment habe ich unter Kontrollzentrum->Regionaleinst.->Tastaturlayout lediglich die Belegung "Deutsch (basic)" aktiviert und mein Logitech Internet Navigator Keyboard ausgewählt.
